What is a normal voice pitch?
Speaking pitch is measured in hertz (Hz) — the number of times your vocal folds vibrate per second. The lower the number, the deeper the voice.
Men
Most adult men speak between roughly 100 and 140 Hz, with an average around 120 Hz. Voices under about 95 Hz sound distinctly deep — the classic "radio voice" territory sits around 85–110 Hz.
Women
Most adult women speak between roughly 185 and 235 Hz, with an average around 210 Hz. Voices under about 165 Hz read as notably deep and warm.
Reference averages from published speech-science research on speaking fundamental frequency (Fitch & Holbrook, 1970; Baken & Orlikoff, Clinical Measurement of Speech and Voice). Your result is an estimate, not a clinical measurement.
What Hz is considered a deep voice?
As a rule of thumb, a male speaking voice below about 115 Hz sounds deep, and below 95 Hz very deep. For women, the equivalent thresholds sit around 185 Hz and 165 Hz. This is the full scale our deep voice test uses to place your result:

What is voice pitch (fundamental frequency)?
Voice pitch, or fundamental frequency (F0), is how many times per second your vocal folds vibrate while you speak, measured in hertz (Hz). A 120 Hz voice vibrates 120 times per second. Lower frequency means a deeper-sounding voice.
What is the average voice pitch for men and women?
Published research places the average speaking pitch around 120 Hz for adult men and around 210 Hz for adult women. Individual voices vary widely — anywhere from about 85 to 180 Hz is common for men, and 165 to 255 Hz for women.
How accurate is this voice pitch test?
The test measures your median pitch over a few seconds of speech using the same class of algorithm used in speech research (McLeod Pitch Method). It's accurate to within a few Hz in a quiet environment, but it's a snapshot: your pitch changes with time of day, energy, and context. For a reliable baseline, test at a consistent time in a quiet room.
Is my voice recorded or uploaded?
No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your voice is processed on your device in real time and is never recorded, stored, or sent to any server.
Can I actually make my voice deeper?
